48V Lithium LiFePO4 Battery Voltage Chart
48V lithium LiFePO4 is the current gold standard for Nigerian solar systems. Pylontech, Felicity, BAK, and most modern batteries sold in Nigeria today are 48V LiFePO4. Lithium batteries behave differently from AGM — their voltage stays very flat across most of their charge range, then drops steeply near empty.
✅ Important: Lithium voltage readings are less useful for estimating state of charge than AGM. Between 20% and 90% charge, the voltage barely changes. Always use your inverter's SOC percentage display rather than voltage alone for lithium batteries.

How to Measure Your Battery Voltage
You need a basic digital multimeter. Available at any electronics market in Nigeria for ₦2,000–₦5,000.
- Set the multimeter to DC Voltage (V DC) — choose a range above your battery voltage (e.g. 20V range for a 12V battery, 200V range for a 48V battery)
- Touch the red probe to the positive terminal (+) of your battery
- Touch the black probe to the negative terminal (–)
- Read the voltage displayed
- For resting voltage: switch off all loads and charging for at least 1 hour before measuring
⚠️ Safety: Always wear insulated gloves when working with 48V battery banks. 48V DC can cause serious injury. If you are unsure, call a certified installer rather than measuring yourself.
What Your Inverter Voltage Display Actually Shows
Most Nigerian inverters — Deye, Growatt, Felicity, Luminous — show a battery voltage reading on their display or app. Here's what to know:
- The inverter voltage reading is taken at the battery terminals through the connection cable — it may differ slightly from a direct multimeter measurement
- During charging, the voltage shown will be higher than the battery's actual resting voltage — this is normal
- During heavy discharge, voltage will appear lower than resting — also normal
- For the most accurate reading, check voltage in the morning before panels start charging and before you've run heavy loads
